I have studied voice since I was 11 years old. Music has been my true joy since I was in middle school myself! I eventually received my Bachelor of Arts in Music, emphasis in Voice, from Brigham Young University. I enjoyed teaching voice lessons for 7 years in my home before coming to teach at Downing Middle School in 2016. I absolutely love teaching each student to sing with confidence and emotional connection, as well as proper technique. Each voice is different, but all can radiate beauty and strength. I live in Flower Mound with my husband and 3 children.
I am Joey Harris a private voice teacher at Clayton Downing middle School. I am very excited to be coming back to Downing for my fourth consecutive year. I have bonded with the students and watched them grow to be better musicians and develop a love for music and I look forward to continuing to be apart of their growth.
A little about me, I attended Texas Tech and UNT where I received my Music Degree with a voice specialization. I taught private lessons in my home for over 12 years before teaching at Downing. I have two boys, Preston who is a Freshman at Texas Tech this year and Logan who is a 6th grader at Downing. My philosophy behind my teaching is this, help the child become the best that they can be, while teaching them to have their own personal love of music that they want to develop after they leave my studio.
